Wong to exhibit at Wing Luke Museum

Hope you can make it to the opening of a new exhibit, From Fields to Family, at the Wing. It’s going to be a sensational exhibit on Asian Pacific Americans and food and they’ll be featuring five of my prints in the exhibit!

I’m incredibly pleased to be involved in the exhibit and it will be a fun evening. I understand they will even have a booth from a old-time Chinese restaurant as part of the exhibit!

Photojournalist Nick Ut earns AAJA Lifetime Achievement Award

Associated Press photographer Nick Ut will be presented AAJA’s top award, Lifetime Achievement Award, at the national convention in Detroit.

Ut will be presented his award at the Gala Banquet on Saturday night, August 13.

Dear AAJA photojournalists,

Associated Press photographer Nick Ut will be presented AAJA’s top award, Lifetime Achievement Award, at the national convention in Detroit.

Ut will be presented his award at the Gala Banquet on Saturday night, August 13.

He and the “Napalm Girl” Kim Phuc will be speaking about their experiences on how his Pultizer-Prize winning photograph changed their lives. Their talk is Friday August 12 in the “Photo Room”.

Ut, who works for AP in Los Angeles, still gives talks around the world about his iconic photo that he says has helped end the war in Vietnam and helps in world peace.

His photojournalism career started when he was just sixteen years old, taking photos of the Vietnam war. He is best known for his 1973 historical, Pulitzer Prize winning photo of a naked nine-year-old girl running away from a napalm attack. The photo has also received awards from World Press Photo, Sigma Delta Chi, George Polk Memorial Award, Overseas Press Club and National Press Club. Since 1977 he has continued to take photos for the Associated Press for the Los Angeles bureau, specializing in Hollywood and celebrity mania. Despite his hectic schedule, he still takes the time to help colleagues and young up-and-coming journalists, holding workshops around the world.

Call for prints nets only 20 photos, we normally have 60

Silent Auction photo curator Corky Lee has collected less than 20 prints. We usually have on display about 60 images. We can’t make much scholarship money with only 20 prints.

AAJA photojournalists,

The AAJA Silent Photo Auction by Asian American photojournalists is about those who care about the future of up and coming Asian American photojournalism students getting into the profession.

Silent Auction photo curator Corky Lee has collected less than 20 prints. We usually have on display about 60 images. We can’t make much scholarship money with only 20 prints.

This auction is not only about making money, but also an exhibit of Asian American photojournalists. There are other auctions who only care about making money and solicit photos from anyone. Yes they make a lot more money, but this auction helps promote Asian American photographers to those who attend the AAJA convention.

Thanks for helping out.

Unfortunately we don’t have many donations yet!

Photo students can also donate a photo.

When selecting your print please consider what someone would purchase. Generally celebrity great feature, sports photos sell well.

Mailing & Print Instructions:

4. Enclose your name, affiliation, address, phone number and email address.
5. Do not send CD or email photo.
